The bunting is up, the bars are stocked and the bands are rolling in. The time has come to commence the eighth annual Treefort Music Fest! Let’s get things started right…R U Treefort Ready?
Watch Treefort come to life: dance to rad tunes, listen to compelling storytellers, view amazing art, pop into a music talk — do whatever you wanna do! Treefort is all about discovery. What will you unveil at Treefort 2019?
Don’t forget to check out this year’s survival guide for all the info on what to bring, how to get around, and what to eat. Pick up your Treefort Pass and some Treefort 8 souvenirs at Treefort HQ (1507 W Main St)— everything is in small quantities so snag it up now, while you can! Need help during the fest? The Ranger Station is a great resource.
MUSIC
Ambient electropop shaman East Forest will lead the opening ceremony at 5:30pm at El Korah Shrine*. Psychedelic dance duo Hosannas will cure you of any bad vibes, followed by local favorites LED who’ll play a band only set (they usually play with pro dancers). 6-piece minimalist/art-rock group Martha Stax will take the stage, followed by local sexadellic battalion Lounge on Fire. Power funk/soul collective The Puscie Jones Revue will close the night!
You won’t want to miss hip-hop artist Vince Staples at Knitting Factory* at 9:10pm. Come early and see rapper JPEGMAFIA open.
Pop into Linen Building* for a night of badass babes with fuzzy pop project Blushh, indie-rock trio Doe, and tenderpunk pioneers illuminati hotties.
The Olympic has all your Americana and bluegrass wishes granted. Music starts with local singer-songwriter Charlie Sutton at 6:40pm and ends with local country rock band Jeff Crosby & the Refugees at 1:50am!
End day one with techno dance music at Fatty’s featuring Something Spicy, Tim Baresko, and Shiba San.

ART
TREEFORT GALLERY
Treefort Gallery is free and open to the public. The gallery is open 2pm-7pm at The Owyhee*.
Los Angeles-based dance duo WHYTEBERG will perform pop-up shows at the gallery at 5pm and 6pm. In collaboration with City of Boise grant recipient STRT/SLCT, the work will be inspired by the pixelated nature and kitschy character arcs featured in vintage games.
THE FORT OF DRAG
Yaaaaas, you heard right. For the first time ever, Treefort presents The Fort of Drag. Get ready for a full night of drag at The Balcony (21+). Discuss the history, the lifestyle and the struggle of ballroom culture in a Ballroom Etiquette class led by Daniel Giron and Brandon Harrison at 7pm. Effy K will DJ 9-10pm and 12:10-2am. The Fort of Drag presents Boise Drag Extravaganza, a proverbial grab bag of drag featuring headliner Mayhem Miller, starting at 10pm.
PERFORMANCE ART
What a great line-up of performances tonight at Boise Contemporary Theater*! Watch Rom Drom, an electrifying collaboration featuring flamenco style dance and live music at 5:10pm. Then, check out The Home Shopping Network Pageant Play, a comedy with shoes, crying, husbands, and more at 6:10pm.
Closing the night, Boise Contemporary Theater will present a staged reading of A Wolf Inside the Fence by Joe Fisher, a funny and harrowing dark comedy about four wounded people in the Oregon public school system, their dark secrets, twisted desires and maybe, just maybe, redemption.
STORYFORT
Storyfort aims to inspire with a variety of events today at The Owyhee*. As always, Storyfort is free and open to the public. Discover the real human stories behind the policies and path to American citizenship at Border Stories: Modern Immigration at noon. Then come connect, inquire, and challenge the prejudices that separate us with The Human Library: Conversations Beyond Stereotypes at 1:30pm, brought by Ada Community Libraries and The Meridian Library District. Middle and high school student representatives from the We Choose All of Us campaign to end gender violence present Stories Toward Liberation at 3pm.
Six storytellers will bring to life truly epic stories of life on the road, stage, and people they’ve met along the way at That Was EPIC: Stories of Failure, Folly, Fandom, & Fame at 10th Street Station (21+) at 5pm.
FOODFORT
Foodfort is excited to bring back the chef-farmer-food community dinner from 6-9pm at The Basque Center. A Night at Kachka features Chef Bonnie Morales, co-owner and head chef of Kachka in Portland and James Beard finalist. Get a taste of Russian cuisine pairs specialty cocktails made by Buffalo Trace. Tickets are $100. This is a 21+ event.
BOX OFFICE
Pick up your bright, shiny new accessory 3pm-10pm at Treefort HQ (1507 W. Main Street). Remember to bring your ID and ticket confirmation with you.
Arriving late? You can swing by The Modern Hotel (1314 W Grove St) to pick up your passes between10pm-2am.
SECOND CHANCE SHOWS
Highlands Hollow will host a lovely night of music featuring Cassandra Lewis (The Foxxtones) with Worth and Sam Eliot starting at 6pm.
Listen to music while you use the Treeline to get to more music! Tonight’s Treeline-up features Scott Knickerbocker, Hillfolk Noir, and Laika the Dog (solo set). Music starts at 8pm.
Check out Liz Cooper & the Stampede at tonight’s Record Exchange* In-store Performance with Boise State Public Radio at 6pm.
