DRAG QUEEN STORY HOUR
Friday, March 22nd, 1:30-2pm @ The Owyhee
Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like — drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores. DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real. Created by Michelle Tea and RADAR Productions in San Francisco, DQSH now has chapters all over the world.
Kids ages 3-8 are welcome for this imaginative and playful story time! Stories will be told by drag queens Minerva Jayne Van Allen, Wendy Peppercorn, and Penelope Windsor. This event is in collaboration with Storyfort and Kidfort.
Boise’s Blonde Bombshell, Minerva Jayne, is a versatile entertainer, writer, and artist. Wendy Peppercorn is an accomplished floral designer, actor, singer, and director in the Treasure Valley. Penelope Windsor is a drag performer and community activist in Boise.
