The future will have roadways, driveways, and parking lots that use solar powered panels thanks to one of HACKFORT‘s headliners — Solar Roadways, a company creating this technology in Sandpoint, Idaho.
The panels have LEDs, heating elements, and microprocessors, among many other things. Solar Roadways famously created a successful Indiegogo campaign, raising $2.2 million and broke the record for most funders at the time. They also were the subject of a viral YouTube video titled “Solar FREAKIN’ Roadways!”
Scott Brusaw and his wife Julie are the founders of Solar Roadways. Scott is an electrical engineer with 30 years of industry experience. His hardware, firmware, and software have been sold around the world. He is an environmentalist, a John Deere enthusiast, and a musician wannabe. He’ll be speaking at Hackfort about the history and future of Solar Roadways.
Hackfort is Thursday through Saturday during Treefort 8 (March 21-23, 2019). Admission to Hackfort is included in a Treefort pass on sale now. There are also Hackfort badges for purchase if you’d like to get guaranteed access into all the events. Hackfort badges will be available soon.
