Acid Tongue
About
Acid Tongue is an American-bred garage band heavily influenced by AM-radio soul, folk & psychedelic rock. The band is composed of Guy Keltner, formerly of Fox and the Law, & Ian Cunningham—perverted in their youth by adolescent exposure to mind-altering substances & strange, spiritually-driven parenting techniques.
After years of extensive traveling throughout the United States, as well as some experimental therapy in a Mexican yurt, the boys have united to produce their take on the music of their parents’ generation. Incorporating imagery of the afterlife, dream-states & drifter-culture, Acid Tongue seeks to enlighten listeners to their swingin’, contemplative lifestyle. Their sound is a dark reflection on childhood romance, confusion, Satanism and suicidal thoughts familiar to anyone suffering from the American condition.
Acid Tongue’s debut LP, aptly named ‘Babies’, is a soulful, stoney, heartfelt approach to modern psychedelia. Engineered by Matt Drenik (Battleme, Danny Dodge), the album provides a glimpse of blue-collar American soul warped by a crumbling democracy & a rose-colored look back at 90s pop culture.
The band has spent the past couple years honing an impressive touring resume—supporting the likes of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Ariel Pink, De La Soul, & legends The Sonics—and recently released their 2019 EP ‘The Night We Broke Our Lease’ featuring the soulful bop “If Lovin’ You Was Easier.”
