Rachael Mayer is a fiber artist based out of Boise, Idaho. With a BA in Anthropology and Ethnic Studies and an MFA in Studio Art, Rachael bridges her two areas of study by making work about communities, social networks, and systems. She draws influence from landscape & topography to communicate ideas involving our social structures and their context within place. Since the pandemic began, her definition of landscape has shifted from natural wonders to those of domesticity and urban life. She pulls colors from photographs of places she loves including mountains situated within the Rockies and corners of her home such as books on her bookshelf or throw pillows on her couch. She has interned at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, has exhibited her work across the United States, and has been published in the Surface Design Journal.
